Pepper House is a concept design for a private family residence located within a coffee estate in Madikeri Taluk, in the beautiful hills of Kodagu (Coorg), Karnataka, part of the Western Ghats.
Situated on the side of a hill within the Coffee plantation, the house is elevated above the coffee plantation while resting beneath the canopy of plantation trees. This careful positioning minimizes its physical and visual footprint, preserving the surrounding environment.
The house is designed with sustainability in mind, featuring an elevated structure that promotes natural airflow around and beneath it. A raised rain screen roof enhances ventilation, while large glass façades allow natural light to flood the interiors, maintaining a balance between openness and shade under the tree canopy. The reflective quality of the glass reduces the building’s visual impact, helping it blend with its surroundings.
The project is currently in the design phase, with further development underway to refine and realize the concept.
