The design integrates building and landscape, informed by the character of Somerset’s historic stone barns. Rather than imitation, the project draws on their clarity of form, material honesty, and strong grounding in the land. These qualities are reinterpreted through a contemporary approach, allowing the building to respond to its historical context while remaining clearly of its time.
The surrounding landscape is designed to correspond directly with the building’s form and siting, reinforcing its relationship to the ground and allowing architecture and landscape to read as a continuous, interdependent condition.
