As part of a joint venture with Somerset County Council, we secured full planning permission for a rural development site encompassing approximately 1.42 acres in an elevated position on the edge of Bruton, Somerset.
The detailed planning permissions is for two contemporary, sustainable detached dwellings.
With open plan accommodation with large windows making use of passive heat and the lovely views from the site. Each dwelling is set into the landscape as if the building has been pushed into the hill, enabling these single-story buildings to be less visually dominant across the landscape and the landscaped mounds borders preventing the gardens and houses from being overlook by each other and the neighbouring houses, while retaining their wide reaching views across the town to Alfred’s Tower.
The single-story dwellings have a gross internal area of 200 sqm (2,153 sqft) each, including a one-bedroom annexe. Each dwelling includes a detached garage of about 40 sqm (431 sqft).
The site was sold at auction in 2024 by Somerset Council as part of the joint venture.
